Tanya Chamoli is an upcoming Indian choreographer who recently published her choreographed video on Toxic – District 78 (ft. Cheesa). The video is trending on YouTube these days. Her previous video on Sia’s Cheap Thrills was published on 21st May, 2016 and is about to hit the half-a-billion views mark. Hoping for a similar kind of success and her passion for dance, she collaborated with 7 girls from various Delhi University Colleges for her latest video. The girls are academically strong and adept in dance. We have interviewed each one of them and we hope that their story will inspire you to work hard and smart.

1. Jhilmil Anurag
Jhilmil Anurag is a 3rd Year B.Tech-Electronics and Communication student at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women, New Delhi. She was the Head Girl of Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi and is into dance from a very young age.
Her first major performance was when she was in 3rd standard. As she discovered her liking for dancing, she started participating in her school’s dance performances. Soon she started winning them and gradually started performing in live shows with her school instructor’s crew.
Passionate for dance, she took training from Danceworx, Kailash Colony Centre and Delhi Dance Academy. She is now professionally trained in Jazz, Modern Contemporary, Salsa, Bachata. Stage lover by heart, she gets motivated and loves to see the crowd cheering for her and lights and cameras pointing at her. She finds the experience very exhilarating and wants to immerse herself in it, forever.
She has performed in over 100 fests after joining college and being a keen observer she appreciates how college students manage fests at such big scales. With such a vast experience of performing at so many different fests, she has seen both sides of the coin and hopes to implement her learnings in making her University’s Annual Fest called ‘Taarangana’ a great success this year.
On asking her with whom she would like to share the stage and on which dance track, she said she would like to dance with ‘Royal Family’ on the song ‘Bitch Better Have My Money (Mix)’. She also wants to share the stage with Sanam and Salman of Dance India Dance on some romantic tracks.
Her future plans are to get a post graduation degree and continue training and performing in different styles.

2. Kritika Airy
Kritika Airy is a 2nd-year student of B.Tech-Computer Science at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women, New Delhi. She passed out from DLF Public School, Ghaziabad and her interest in dance piqued after she joined her college’s dance society ‘The Hypnotics’.
She is comfortable in performing dance forms like Hip Hop, Bollywood, Jazz, Urban, Dancehall and House and uses technology to sharpen her dance skills. She follows Matt Steffanina on Youtube to learn from his online dance classes. She is a fan of Hrithik Roshan and wants to dance with him on Bang Bang.
To everyone out there, here is your dose of motivation from the girl who in a very short span of time worked really hard to make it big and finally got featured in Tanya Chamoli’s dance video who is very selective about people performing with her.
“It is never too late to pursue anything so just follow your heart and put in your best in whatever you do. Don’t be afraid of challenges and have the courage to take risks.”

3. Priyanka Ahuja
Priyanka Ahuja is in her final year of Bachelors of Computer Applications at Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (IPU). She completed her class 12th from Goodley Public School, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi. She started dancing as a hobby and continued learning various dance forms like Salsa, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary etc during the summer and winter breaks until she completed her schooling.
She took dancing seriously after joining college and took regular classes at Hash Aerobics & Dance Studio, New Delhi. She performed in 3-4 shows with them during their summer and winter fiestas. Now, she is even more serious with her dancing skills and has started taking workshops from various choreographers to fine-tune them. Kaelynn Harris, Tricia Miranda and Brian Friedman are her favourite dancers and choreographers.
The girl exhibits leadership qualities and remembers that when she joined college, her department did not have a dance society. So she took the lead and with the help of her friends formed a dance society for Computer Applications Department of VIPS(IPU).
We asked her how did her closed ones reacted after watching her bold look in the video, to which she said that her parents and relatives were happy about it and appreciated her work. She kept the dance video as a secret and her friends were surprised when they got to know about it.

4. Lakshita Kain
Lakshita Kain is pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women and is in 3rd year. She is into dancing from her childhood and has performed in all the Annual Functions of her school which is Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, New Delhi.
Not a trained dancer, she sharpened her skills under the guidance of Tanya Chamoli and her seniors. She joined her college’s dance society ‘The Hypnotics’ on the very first day of her college. She now performs Jazz, Dancehall, Hip Hop and a little bit of Contemporary.
Just like Kritika Airy, she also wants to share the stage with Hrithik Roshan on Bang Bang. Girls just love him!

5. Shivani Rawal
Shivani Rawal is a 2nd-year student of B.Tech-Mechanical & Automation Engineering at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women. She is dancing since a very young age of 3 years and learnt by watching the artists performing on TV. She is a part of her college’s dance society ‘The Hypnotics’ and things changed when she met Tanya Chamoli in her 1st-year as choreographer for ‘The Hypnotics’.
Tanya as a freelancer was choreographing ‘The Hypnotics’ and in the last 1-2 years, she learnt Jazz, Free Style, Bollywood under her guidance. The Impressive fact is that she picked up the skills very quickly from Tanya as she never took dance training before.
She has found dance as a medium to express herself and enjoys it a lot. Her friends and family are happy seeing her achieving new heights.
We asked her to describe her journey and she summarised it as, “It was a wonderful journey, shooting the song. All the members were very friendly..we together prepared a lot for the video .and finally hard work is paying off..it is a really good experience of my life.”

6. Aanchal Saxena
Aanchal Saxena is a 2nd-year student of B.Tech-Mechanical & Automation Engineering at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University For Women. She started dancing at a very young age of 7. She has learnt Kathak for more than 7 years and has participated in a number of dance competitions during school. She has also won first prize in a state-level solo dance competition in 2010.
She joined her college’s dance society ‘The Hypnotics’ soon after she got admission in the college and says that the full day practices and training are the reason for her success today. The exposure she received by performing on stage multiple times has made her more confident.
She is currently receiving professional training at The Danceworx Academy and is adept in different forms of Jazz like Street Jazz, Funk Jazz, and Lyrical Jazz.

7. Kritika Kalra
Kritika Kalra is in the final year of B.Tech-Mechanical & Automation Engineering at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women. She passed out from DPS Mathura Road, New Delhi and is dancing from a very young age. She has performed in various school and inter-DPS competitions and received a lot of appreciation from teachers.
Her dancing skills improved a lot after she joined her college’s dance society ‘The Hypnotics’ and gives all the credits to choreographers of the society. She is skilled in various dance forms like Hip-Hop, Urban, Freestyle and Jazz and has performed in more than 150 college fests till now.
She secured 3rd position in a recent dance competition judged by Shakti Mohan and hosted by MTV. She says that her heart and soul lie in dancing but she will be pursuing a post graduation degree after completing the college. To all the fellow dancers reading this, she says, “Do what you love. Dance is a road less taken but if you are passionate about it then you should put your heart and soul in it.”
